Summer Bluff

June 2023

A warm welcome, June 2023, gateway to summer, but officially it’s still Spring... dragging its heels, until the 21st.

Shrine, temple, bricks, tree roots, overgrown plants, fallen leaves

In the Northern Hemisphere Spring has finally sprung with everything in bloom, including art activities, exhibits, and festivals. Please support your community’s special events – home base is Tri-Cities for me and you’ll find my carving work at Blackberry Gift Shop as part of PomoArts, as well as Place Des Arts.

A significant show is in Place Des Arts Atrium, running from June 2 – 22, celebrating the Centre’s 50th Anniversary. If you’re in Maillardville, come check it out, OR if you're unable to make it in person... take the tour online! See if you can find my pieces - hint: they're behind glass :)

Canada Environment Week, with World Environment Day on June 5th - it’s my time to be able to say that I joined as an “Artist for Conservation”. I'm proud to support Ancient Forest Alliance, One Tree Planted, Nature Conservancy and many more, encouraging others to also do a small part for the environment.

Art Shuffle is Friday June 23rd, another time to visit PomoArts – hope to see you there too!

Our group is carving three days a week at Dogwood Centre – watch for events there also, an exciting display and sale is happening this month for The Art Club, Photography Club, Lapidary, and the Carvers.

I'm writing also to share with you my current creative pursuits in progress(pictures of progress below):

  • Bark Twin Treehouses

  • Sea Stacks inspired by Cape Scott

  • Cedar Tragic/Comedy Masks

  • The Dying Swan carved of basswood(inspired by a music box base of Tchaikovsky”s Swan Lake)

  • Ocean Scape creatures of seahorse, manta ray and Dory from Finding Nemo - all will be part of a larger group project to be mounted on a large piece of driftwood.

I hope to keep these more casual updates coming on a semi-regular basis, thanks so much for your continued support!
